Update on the provision of essential supplies to those who access the Asha Centre during the COVID-19 pandemic
A total of 5 food drops have now been made to those who access the Asha Centre as we were able to make 2 food drops last weekend. Over 70 families were provided with essentials each time.
The community continues to struggle at this difficult time with most not having been able to work for over a month. Government support has been promised to daily workers but at the moment, very few families have been able to access this support. We are in touch with local government officials to support with this process.
Families are also struggling to meet their medical needs at this time. We have therefore decided to help with any one-off medical needs due to accident or illness that affects a child or young person who comes to the centre. We have already supported one family with a one-off payment as a boy needed medical treatment due to an injured collarbone after falling out of a tree.
To extend this support to other families, we are looking for an initial fund of Rs10,000/£50.
